This
blend of new-wave and punk with the darkest electro
and dance textures has to be heard to be properly understood,
let alone believed. Dark, nasty, infectious, witty
and morose, this is the turning point for the Faint.
Whereas the excellent Blank-wave Arcade saw
them reign in those 80s synths with enthusiasm, panache
and many lyrics about sex, this sees the Faint tighten
every loop, sharpen every synth, and process every
vocal to the point at which you fear for their humanity.
Oppressive, melodic and perfect. Don't bother with
the recent remix album though. That's just rubbish. |
