No.1 NOFX - The War On Errorism

NOFX are the best band in the world. This record is as much a testament to this as the last five have been. From "The Seperation Of Church And Skate"'s disgusted rejection of kiddie punk, through to the inflammatory social commentary of "Regaining Unconsciousness", this is the sound of the world's most imaginative, original and intelligent punk rock band at the height of its powers. Aside from the obligatory duff closing track, this record is consistently brilliant. NOFX rule.

No.2 The Faint - Danse Macabre

This blend of new-wave and punk with the darkest electro and dance textures has to be heard to be properly understood, let alone believed. Dark, nasty, infectious, witty and morose, this is the turning point for the Faint. Whereas the excellent Blank-wave Arcade saw them reign in those 80s synths with enthusiasm, panache and many lyrics about sex, this sees the Faint tighten every loop, sharpen every synth, and process every vocal to the point at which you fear for their humanity. Oppressive, melodic and perfect. Don't bother with the recent remix album though. That's just rubbish.
