To mark the release of their brand new album 'Warnings/Promises¹ out on 7th March, Idlewild are embarking on a full UK tour beginning in April. Tickets went on sale Jan 28th. Tinyvoices has its tinyfingers crossed for a verylargereturntoform. But who knows? The album is out on March 7th, preceded by single "Love Steals Us From Loneliness" on February 21st. DS 04/02/05 - The Legion of whom? Where? When? Nottingham's favourite half-dead-wrestlers-inspired instrumental metal glam-poseurs The Legion of Doom are playing some more gigs. Imagine experimental orchestral rescorings of Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada and Squarepusher, and you're thinking of the Warp/London Sinfonietta show taking place in Berlin on March the 4th 2005. Bit of a distance away, but you never know when you might be in Germany, eh? SR. 19/01/05 - Aereogramme Cancel Dates. Glasgow epic rockers Aereogramme have cancelled the first two shows (in Aberdeen and Perth) on their forthcoming UK tour, as singer/ guitarist Craig B is suffering from a viral throat infection. The other shows are still planned to go ahead - but this will obviously be dependent on Craig's recovery. Let's hope this tour can go on, as the dates with Twin Zero should rock. DS 17/01/05 - (I just felt we should mention it seeing as everyone else has - Busted split up). DS 17/01/05 - Reuben back in the studio? Tinyvoices BritRockMetal favourites Reuben may well be back in the studio recording their second album by now. Perhaps. They reckon. Oh, go here. DS 14/01/05 - Seemless album release. Again. You can hear what they sound like from a link on their site. Do so, they're ace. DS 13/01/05 - Calling All Tormented Souls / Misunderstood Butterflies. I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning is released on January 25th along with the more feisty Digital Ash in a Digital Urn. Support comes from ex-Saddle Creekers Rilo Kiley. Both bands toured the UK, briefly, in May, and they were both very good indeed. TP 13/01/05 - Mclusky have broken up. In case you DON'T UNDERSTAND, this is a VERY BAD THING. Their website goes into not-much detail, which is fair enough. I don't want to talk about it either.TP 13/01/05 - The Legion of Doom/Sons of Merrick/Chickenhawk have announced a selective 'World Tour'. Mega drum-n-bass sample king Tobin will also be releasing his new album, Chaos Theory (which is a soundtrack to the latest Splinter Cell game), on the 31st of January as well. It's as if that point in time inherently contains some sort of cosmic significance. Almost as if it were the junction point for the entire space-time continuum. On the other hand, it could just be an amazing coincidence. SR 12/01/05 - New Roots Manuva album. Blipity UK blip hop pioneer Roots Manuva will be releasing his new album, Awfully Deep, on the 31st of January. We will endeavour to review it. SR 11/01/05 - Remember Silver Sun? Twin Zero, featuring former members of Vex Red, Earthtone9 and Subvert, are releasing their debut album through Undergroove on 31/01/05. DS 14/12/04 - Redjetson Gig Dates. L 07/12/04 - New Mars Volta Album. Or is it a 77 minute single? Either way, I'm looking forward to it. It's to be called Francis The Mute and it's out in March '05. The Brit-core mainstays test themselves against new blood Reuben on a reasonably lengthy tour. Reuben are also playing some of the Biffy dates. See the listings. TP 30/9/04 - Modest Mouse play gigs. And they're playing a lot of gigs, so there's no excuse not to see them before they surely conquer the planet with their forthcoming hyper-ambitious third album. Go and see them play... TP 20/9/04 - Mclusky. They're good too. Because I haven't had time yet to get around to reviewing all the albums I've actually paid money for, you've been spared from gushing praise for these murky Welshmen and their masterfully menacing music. TP 20/9/04 - Sparta play gigs with Million Dead. Excellent British post-hardcore act Million Dead are breaking in their new guitarist on the following dates with Sparta, who recently released a really boring record (Porcelain). TP 15/9/04 - Interpol tour. The brilliantly glum New Yorkers tour new album Antics. TP 12/9/04 - This Amp Goes Up To Seven. Maz got a bit bored by Amp Fiddler when he played London in May. However, undeterred, he's back to funk us up a little more. He's playing Fiddlers in Bristol on October 20th, the London Astoria on the 21st, and the Cork Jazz Festival, Ireland, on the 23rd. TP 12/9/04 - The Future's Bright (Eyes). Omaha's most tortured troubadour, Conor Oberst, will be releasing two singles simultaneously next month with his Bright Eyes outfit. This will be followed by two (count 'em) albums in the near future. Very exciting stuff. TP 12/9/04 - Nottingham's Bands Battle.
