One of the most satisfying minor-success stories of last
year, the Futureheads gave us a welcome reminder that artpunk-influenced
guitar bands need neither Franz Ferdinand-esque ‘chic’ or
Razorlight-esque ‘twattishness’ to sell records.
All you need are a few grey shits, a fondness for razorsharp
guitar lines and stuttering vocals, and a knack for penning
off-kilter angle-punk classics like “Decent Days /
Decent Nights” and “Meantime”. And yeah,
ok, a novelty cover version doesn’t do any harm either.
