No.15
in the Best Of 2003 Top 20
The fact that the Wildhearts ever managed to record another
album after Endless Nameless is a small wonder
in itself, but the fact that they've returned sounding
so fresh, tight and energised is nothing short of a miracle.
However, rather than knocking out mini-epics crammed with
Beatles-esque melodies, brilliant three-part harmonies
and genius gonzo metal riffs like they used to, they've
opted for the stripped down approach. No song is longer
than four minutes, and there's barely a sludgy metal moment
to be found. Basically, they've gone pop-punk. Nevertheless,
on its own terms this is still a great, fun, melodic rock
album. It's just no Earth Vs, that's all.
