There should be more songs
about man's
inability to control his penis.
Just as with their debut Foodchain EP, it takes
a couple of listens to realise the genius of Leeds 5-piece
10,000
Things. On first listen they sound like a sloppy pub-rock
band. But come back to this cd a day later, and you realise
that they are in fact the very best sloppy pub-rock band
on the planet. And that includes the Darkness. Not even Justin
Hawkins could pull off the line, "I think I need titanium
boxer shorts / I just can't cope with all these dirty
thoughts."
10,000 Things don't do anything you
won't
have heard before. It's bar-room boogie rock, Rolling
Stones-style, ACDC-style, but it's honest, it's
full of energy, humour and life, and it picks you up
and puts a smile on your face.
And sometimes that's
more than enough.
