In this review I will mostly be gypping the Drowned in Sound
online music review site.
For it hath been said of Agent Blue's "Something
Else" that it's "the sound of teenagers
rioting for the hell of it - irrepressibly brilliant".
It most certainly is not - it's the sound of teenagers
thieving all the good bits from their dad's Clash / Cure
/ Basic Shouty Guitar Band albums and ham-fistedly mauling
them
into garage rock mediocrity.
That said, "Something Else" is not a bad song.
We've heard it about 38 times before, but it's
always had a good hook and a bouncy rhythm, and as songs
with a good hook and a bouncy rhythm go this is certainly
up there, ooh, with one of the lesser moments from the
Strokes' latest
album. It's miles better
than the Libertines though, so I'm giving it 5
simply because it's at least 4 points better than
them.
