The Caves - Polymorphic Light Eruption
(Main Spring)

www.thecaves.co.uk

Released 28/03/05

When I were a lad, bands were called things like Brick and Shoe. Now they’re all called The Bricks and The Shoes, and that’s what we in the music industry call progress.

So, what we have here is a band whose name sounds like just about every other band around at the minute, a song title which sounds like something by Stereolab, a press release which promises “The Who hosting a jamboree with the Futureheads”, and an editor who growled that the thing sounds like the Orange Organics. What with all these conflicting pointers flying around, we were in a state of extreme confusion before we put this record on; once we did, though, everything became comfortingly straightforward. In fact, what "Polymorphic Light Eruption" (and, for that matter, b-side "Feedback") sounds exactly like is Blur and Oasis meeting halfway 10 years ago. If that sounds a bit dull, it’s because it is. But we do like the fact that the band have recently been on a nationwide tour which comprised dates in Carmarthan, Blackwood, Chester, Porthcawl, Cwmamman and London.
