| Sadly, it seems that pop-punk and emo are interchangeable these days. I remember a time when it wasn’t so, but I suppose I should just bite the bullet and get on with this. |

While certainly highly pogo-able, there’s not a huge amount of substance to this. But then, that’s not really what this is all about. Recalling Brand New’s knack for a tune, but without quite matching their songwriting ability, ‘Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down’ is a fairly average but also fairly fun slice of pop-rock. We’ve all heard this before in one guise or another, though to be fair it does build to a pretty nice harmony-laden climax at the end. Me, I prefer something a bit more tantric, but each to his own.
However, you could do a lot worse than jump about to this down your local rock club. |
