Why is mediocrity so sought after? Why are the most succesful bands so totally middle of the road? Why do record labels think we actually want to hear more bands like this? Why will England never win the world cup again? These are questions we may never find the answer to...

Rarely have I heard so uninspiring a band, or one so devoid of redeeming features. Nothing about Humanzi makes me think "Yeah, that's different." or "Wow, I've never heard that before" - because everything Humanzi do has already been done in the last three years. Excruciatingly catchy and upbeat guitars - somewhat remniscient of Razorlight - paired with samey, out-of-tune vocals and a dull rhythm section should not, in any way at all be the formula for success. But in a country where James Blunt is huge and Michael Winner is a celebrity, this is exactly what we've come to expect.

I suppose I have to find something positive to say about 'Long Time Coming'. Hmm. Yes I've found something. It's only three minutes long. Admittedly these are three minutes you could use to boil an egg or make a cup of tea - activities much more worthwhile than listening to Humanzi.

There's no doubt in my mind that this band will be huge, but if that's what the people want, then fine, let them have it. But for the rest of all we can do is hang on to our litte-known underground bands, hoping for our own sakes a major label doesn't come along and spoil the party. We can but hope...
