| After signing a massive deal with B-Unique at the age of just 18, and with upcoming tours supporting Hard-Fi and The Ordinary Boys, The Automatic must feel as though nothing can go wrong right now. On the strength of this debut single, ‘Recover’, I’m not going to disagree. |

This Cardiff four-piece have already built up a fanatical following, including one Ian Broudie (who produced this single), and with every man and his dog creating electro-indie music these days, it’s exciting to find a band so young and fresh.
The Automatic offer the kind of energy long missing since the split of At the Drive-In, and the chorus hook line is something Morrissey himself would be proud of. In a country dominated by easily-accessible dance-along indie, it’s only a matter of time before The Automatic become a household name, and placed alongside The Kaiser Ferdinands, I have no room to complain. It is only the slightly repetitive feel that stops this from getting a perfect score.
This band is going places, and fast. Before you know it, everyone will be a fan, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, because we need more music like this. Music to make you dance, and music to make you rock. Mark my words, The Automatic truly will be the next big thing. |

Man what was I thinking giving them this score, literally two weeks after this I couldn't listen to them at all. Still though, that last line is fairly accurate (even though I say that at the end of all my reviews)

The best pop/TV crossover so far this year was a trailer for a BBC programme about Gordon Brown which used that Automatic song that goes "What's that coming over the hill? IS IT A MONSTER?"
