| Does the world really need much more of this? Surely My Chemical Romance, Fall out Boy and New Found Glory are enough? But no, clearly not, and whilst records like this are still being released, you can guarantee they are going to sell thousands. |

I have no doubt that Zebrahead play pop-punk to a high standard, but when we have hundreds of bands all peddling the same riffs and vocals, it becomes somewhat tedious. Kicking off with a high-pitched guitar lick, it then proceeds to tick all of the pop-punk boxes. Fast bass? Yep. Chanting? Yep. Huge, soaring chorus? You betcha! Dull, Unimaginative solo? Of course. A quiet middle-8 with drums building up to nothing? I could go on, but I’m not going to, the song is dreary enough, I don’t want to have to listen to it again.
If this is your kind of thing, then go ahead listen to Zebrahead, you’ll probably like it, but if even the slightest thought of Fall Out Boy et al gets your blood boiling, then my advice to you is to stay well away. |
