With 'TX81Z', The Black Neon presents a tale of robot (well, synth) love. Those sick little puppies.

Exactly how could one love a keyboard? The flashing LED display would make for a restless night’s sleep. Rolling over clumsily in the night could trigger a crashing crescendo of church organ proportions or, worse still, Wham’s 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go' on the ‘demo’ setting. The electricity bills would be extortionate and playing with the vocoder would become tiresome within a week.

But Black Neon have overcome these problems and documented the whole sordid affair on this track. And the result is, um, familiar to say the least. Without wanting to use the word "plagiarism", I'd suggest that New Order ('Blue Monday') and The Doors ('Light My Fire') should listen to the track and have their lawyers on speed dial.

B-side ‘Shopping Mall Blues’ is more original, pushing the synth to the background (do I sense a lovers’ tiff?) and waltzing around with a tale of unrequited (this time human, I think) love in a shopping mall. However, it does little to leave a lasting impression and only scores more points than the title track thanks to its novelty.
