Although we’re spoilt for choice these days when it comes to jangly-yet-harmonic-and-catchy guitar-led indie bands, there remains a slight problem - not many of them are actually that good.
And this is where Pull Tiger Tail have found their niche and constructed a bungalow in which to raise a family of smaller indie bands that sound like what I want Maximo Park to sound like. Which is a long-winded way of saying that I like them.
It’s impossible not to nod your head and bounce a little bit to ‘Let’s Lightning’, from its Wannadies-esque introduction all the way through the intelligently-composed song.
The track is wonderfully punchy and full of dynamic interest. And despite being initially simple-sounding, multiple listens reveal layers upon layers of intricate detail that only serve to add more appeal to an already-engaging piece of music.
As we tentatively edge ever towards the impending summer and the festival season that accompanies it, it would be a travesty if Pull Tiger Tail’s brand of pop failed to capture at least a small corner of public imagination, allowing their uplifting and infectious pop to be the soundtrack of a summer or two.
