When I discovered that We Are Wolves were from Montreal, I had a very definite preconception of what they would sound like. I was substantially wrong, but pleasantly surprised.
With the brilliantly-titled ‘L.L. Romeo’, We Are Wolves offer a big dirty slice of rock drenched in fuzziness and distortion. It’s the musical equivalent of playing in the dirt and enjoying it, despite the fact that your mam’s going to kill you when you get home.
A lovely minimal synth opening is swiftly accompanied by an unfussy-yet-effective guitar hook and frenzied singing - ‘L.L. Romeo’ is an excellent fuse of electro and rock.
The only annoying factor for this reviewer is the telephone-ringing sound at the start of the track which never fails to have me scrambling around to check the nearest communication device despite it not sounding like any ringtone that I’ve ever had.
