| One of the Klaxons achieved minor notoriety at my university a few years back. As the story goes, he exposed his gentleman's friend to the foxy female bassist from a local band in an unprovoked incident. The little chap was an unwelcome sight and the shocked girl's band wrote a song about it called - of course - 'Dick Boy'. |

But which member's member was it? Where was this? When? It's all as maddeningly unspecific as Magick. Or maybe we should use the words "maddeningly cryptic." After all they've spelt the title with a "K" like 16th century pagans might, and wear hoods on stage. Sorry, hoodies.
But if they really were channeling the dark arts they'd have come up with something that doesn't sound like a dance remix of an early Placebo single. The billion BPM verses give way to a splendidly downtempo chorus that's as unexpected and spooky as it should be. It shows that we shouldn't write them off just yet, but as Rave music, Nu or otherwise, it doesn't hit enough euphoric heights to cut it. |
