| Recently, when I could have been using my fast-dwindling time on this planet to read something edifying like Das Kapital or The Origin of the Species, I read instead an interview with Good Shoes frontman Mr Rhys Jones. One of the questions put to him, with typical journalistic flair, concerned what exactly defines a good shoe; whereupon he inevitably started going on about his frigging brogues. |

And that, listeners, pretty much encapsulates the problem with bands in swinging London Town at the minute: they’re all wearing the same bastard footwear, and they all sound utterly interchangeable; they all have the same jangly, slightly anaemic sound first popularised by the Libertines quite a few years ago now. ‘All In My Head’ is but the latest example of this enduring phenomenon.
I’ve already reviewed one single by this band and I’ve just pretty much regurgitated the same “points” I made then, so apologies; but if they can’t be bothered to try anything different, then neither can I. Ha! |
