The Caves
- 'Polymorphic Light Eruption'
(Main Spring)

|
| When I were a lad, bands were called things like Brick and Shoe. Now they’re all called The Bricks and The Shoes, and that’s what we in the music industry call progress. |
| |
| So, what we have here is a band whose name sounds like just about every other band around at the minute, a song title which sounds like something by Stereolab, a press release which promises “The Who hosting a jamboree with the Futureheads”, and an editor who growled that the thing sounds like the Orange Organics. What with all these conflicting pointers flying around, we were in a state of extreme confusion before we put this record on; once we did, though, everything became comfortingly straightforward. In fact, what "Polymorphic Light Eruption" (and, for that matter, b-side "Feedback") sounds exactly like is Blur and Oasis meeting halfway 10 years ago. If that sounds a bit dull, it’s because it is. But we do like the fact that the band have recently been on a nationwide tour which comprised dates in Carmarthan, Blackwood, Chester, Porthcawl, Cwmamman and London. |
