| Hark! Is that the first firework of the season exploding against the autumnal London sky? It is, which can only mean that my review of ‘Time On My Hands’ by The Five O’Clock Heroes is, ooh, very late indeed. |

Best get to the point, then. ‘Time On My Hands’ is one of those poppy, jerky, post-punk-y kind of affairs, and as such sounds a bit like Franz Ferdinand and, particularly, Dogs Die In Hot Cars (whom you may not remember, as their career seemed to go into nosedive after my and Stuart A’s band supported them in Manchester a couple of years ago. An in-flight magazine described them as the new Dexy’s Midnight Runners at roughly the same time, if memory serves. But I digress).
Very pleasant, and should do very well for itself, if it weren’t for the fact that the ever-fickle kids appear to have ditched this kind of thing in favour of something called New Rave. Seems I’m not the only one who’s just that bit too late! |
