The Pigeon Detectives
- 'Romantic Types'
(Dance to the Radio)
| Do you think that’s “pigeon detectives” as in human investigators of pigeon-related crimes (a somewhat limited remit), or pigeons who are detectives? Personally, I prefer the latter option, if only because the idea of a pigeon wearing a little Sherlock Holmes hat, and maybe smoking a pipe, is just too cute. |

Aaaaaaaaaanyway. These Pigeon Detectives are neither of these things but some form of rock band, who cite their key influences as the Stones, the Cure and the Stooges. Interesting, isn’t it, how our young bands are inevitably influenced by artists who stalked the earth about a thousand years before they were born?
Here's the TRUTH: ‘Romantic Type’ sounds very now, closer to the Holloways or even fellow Yorkshiremen the Arctic Monkeys, with a great shouty chorus that sounds like it will go down very well in your local indie discotheque. A minor triumph, in short.
And I’ve just had a great idea: the Sherlock Holmes pigeon, instead of going “coo, coo”, would go “clue, clue” when it found a clue. Brilliant! |
