| When I was a child, one of my friends used the word 'beige' as a euphemism for 'unspeakable, indescribable, lobe-sapping dullitude.' Basic Instinct in general is beige. Not even a full beige, but rather a half-hearted, watery one. |

Production here is from Ghost, accompanied with lyrics from Abstract Rude.
An indistinct 'message' - something about the right way to live, being "mad at the world" (I'm not convinced) - and incongruous production help create the half-baked atmosphere. Ghost's rhymes seem continuously awkward and pedestrian, and there is little vital energy or spark here to mark this out from the raft of similar endeavours. The other tracks on the single - the original 'Basic Instinct' lyrical track with a couple of different and equally mismatched productions - can't stop me from not caring. Sorry, Ghost. |
