Popular Workshop
- 'All About Vicki'
(Studio Penguin)
| From the content of this single you could argue Popular Workshop will never be famed for their lyrical compositions. Or on the other hand, maybe they will indeed find fame with the un-emasculated Elastica noise that spews from their mouths, hands and feet. |

| While most three-pieces try to hide their relatively small number of members, Popular Workshop instead go about highlighting this sonic challenge. Both tracks, 'All About Vicki' and 'Fuck Shit Up' jitter and scream like a jumped up Jawbox, which suits me just fine. Seeing as they have already had XFM airplay, you had better jump on this bandwagon quick smart. In true journalistic fashion I'm now going to contradict what I said earlier; 'All About Vicki', as well as rocking, has a masterful lyric. I'm sure it's a line never before used in a song - though maybe on Silverlink Trains' announcements: "London, Epsom, London" |
