| Cliched lyrics, rehashed rifts and carbon copy chord progressions, ‘Never Too Late’ has them all - but still manages to clamber out of the Bog of Eternal Seventies Rock with its sweaty long hair untangled and ready to be swung in a mighty head-banging fashion. |

For this single The Answer have consciously (hopefully?) taken fragments from the songs of such luminaries as the Black Crowes and, most obviously, The Rolling Stones, then mixed in an iota of Rage Against The Machine. The result, although not unique, is extremely polished and will have many a grown man wildly thrashing his air guitar.
Some of the lines in this song, such as, “I have been searchin’, for ten thousand years, and I keep on learnin’, learnin’ how to ease my fears” will have all but the most naďve chuckling with derision, but taken with a pinch of salt they are nonetheless enjoyable.
Many of you will detest the lack of sophistication and imagination to ‘Never Too Late’, along with the many more who don’t read this website (the fools!). Yet there will be a small number who become devotees to these retrospective rockers.
I say good luck to them. |
